Day 5 - Not much just plywood
Not much time today...just cut the plywood for the underlayment of the countertop. Waiting on kitchen sink that was ordered over the internet. Says 2-4 week delivery. May put old sink back to have a sink in the kitchen again. Should be the same exact size as the old sink except white in color. The extra 3 feet of counterspace is going to be sooooo nice.

Stalled remodel
Was trying to work all this weekend but it has been stalled due to kidney stone. Up late last night at the hospital. Passed this morning (kidney stone) <grin> Got to make the countertop underlayment but just to tired. Oh well....

Day - 4 - I hate plumbing!
Half a days work because the other job that I get paid for (and is paying for this) is getting in the way. Plumbing is definitely not my specialty. Replaced the valves for the sink and dishwasher. They were really hard to turn the valve and they probably were original 33 year old valves. Got all three of them on and told donna to watch in case of flood when I turned the water back on. One valve was leaking and turned the screw a little harder and it fixed the small leak on the new valve (compression ring). About an hour later I look down and another one was leaking. Few more turns of the screw and all fixed. Better to work on this now otherwise you are laying on your back trying to climb under the sink. Also, put the new cabinet (pre-made unfinished) in place officially and put the small 3/4 risers all around the cabinets as they were before on the old counter and added new kickplates because the old ones were rotted out or dried out.

Weather is turning nasty again and maybe snow so I may not be able to cut the plywood for the countertop tomorrow but we'll see. I need an inside workshop on a farm. :(

Day 3 -Rip out countertop
Looks like I didn't get anything done today but I did rip off the countertop. Also tried to move a cabinet over to the left of the window but when the sliding shelves pull out, it hits the stove. So had to put the cabinet back into the original spot. So that's a plan that is scratched. Need to replace the ball valves for the water and all of the piping for the sink (that was planned). New sink is ordered and should be on it's way. Bought it on the internet. Same corner type sink but in white. Thing cost a fortune because of it's unique shape.

Day 2 - Removal of pantry closet
Removal of the pantry closet was a little more involved than planned. The thing was built like a fortress. 2x4's for framing and drywall on both side of the 2x4's. Built like a room. The ceiling inside the the pantry had to be ripped out and the loose insulation fell all over the place. I didn't think there was much in there. Cold air started pooring into the room so I removed the plaster and more 2x4's from the ceiling and buttoned it up with plastic and tape.

Uno started checking out the closet gone. He used to open the door to
get the treats that were stored in the closet.

The mess that is left the throw out. May recycle some of this.
