( 3.1 / 48 )Productive day today...New soffit framing is in and ready for sheetrock but before I do that, I've got some electircal to do. New AC socket for the new refrige and put in a double electrical box for the current light and the new light that will go over the butcher block. I feel I'm starting to turn the corner. Most of what is planned next is finishing work.
What's left? Sheetrock, Sanding cabinets down to wood, make cabinet fronts, backslpash tile and counter top tile, make lower cabinet for under butcher block where refrige will go, paint, install new sink (when it gets here) and new wood floors. Not much to go. <grin>

( 3.3 / 62 )Well, today was the day for the mess. Pulled down the soffits and got a surprise sorta. I new there were wires in the soffits. Figuring I could move them up and out of the way for sheetrock, there are just to many. There is also a vent pipe going threw one of them in the corner that does not go through the top plate of the wall. So the wires have to stay. The reason they did the wiring this way was because if you put to many holes going to the top plate of the supporting wall, you make it structurally unsound.
Sooo...somewhat of a setback and the first so far. The modification will be to put the soffits as far back to the wall as possible. Maybe half of the width of the above cabinets up to the ceiling. That seems to be the general agreement between Joyce, Donna, and Dominic.

( 3.1 / 38 )Did some electrical yesterday for the new refrigerator which is going on the other side of the kitchen. Found out that the wire that was in that wall can not handle the load for the new refrigerator so I will have to connect to the wall socket thats on the other side of the stove. Can't do that till the soffets are removed so that the wire can go up and over to the other side of the stove.
Today was framing for the new full extension sliders for the drawers. Basically had to move out the walls of the cabinets so that the sliders have something to grab. Also finished the new kickplate that also needed a heat register that was not there before. Heat use to come out threw a crack in the wood. <grin>

( 3 / 40 )Not much today happening. Hard to get work done when working the regular job. I only have about 2-3hrs before dinner when getting home from work but every little bit helps even if it a small project for the day. Friday's are a full day off from the regular job as well as Sunday and only 5hrs work on Saturdays. So the weekends I can get a lot done. We just got some money for the hardwood floors today which we didn't have budgeted in at first. I can continue on with that all the way to the end now. Money no problem. Estimated project finish is around the end of February 2008.
Photo of just some patch work for the subfloor that is needed from the removal of the pantry the other day.
