Day 38, 39, 40 - Time off & tile almost done

After taking about a week off and going to NY for 4 days I got right back into the swing of things. Prepared the place for tile and officially laid down some of it today. One side of the room is done and half the other side. Tile goes pretty fast and I did all of this in 7 hours today.

Tomorrow is a full day of work on the kitchen and I'll finish most of it.
Going to have to back track a little to. The pot filler faucet connection is not going to hold up the faucet. It ways a ton. So I have to dig into the wall and change the piping. So I can't tile till over that section till I'm done fixing that. I hate doing things twice and have not done much of that on this project.

Oh yeah, now I'm getting oohs and aahs from Donna and Joyce. The second picture depicts more of the color. Flash was used on the first photo.

Day 36,37 - Microwave install

Not much time today because of work but installed the microwave today above the stove. No more countertop lost to a microwave. Was not hard to install but I made my own templates than what came with the microwave. For some reason the ones that came with the microwave did not match the cabinet above. Came out fine though.

Still am not happy with the paint. It's showing every flaw in the cabinets. So I've got a few area's that need touch up and some sanding and repaint. Should look fine after a few more hours on it. Going to take it slow the rest of the week. Upcoming trip to N.Y. this weekend and then after that it will be tilling. Need a full day for that and it won't be till the weekend after next. So I said it was going to take 6 weeks. I'm way off. Looks like not till middle of March till I'm done and that will include the floor install. So that would be 10 weeks. <grin> I'm just taking my time making sure things come out fine. If I didn't have the REAL job, I would have been done in a month.

Day 33,34,35 - Backerboard

Today it felt like I got somewhere. Past few days was installing the sliders for the drawers. Easier to install them before screwing down the counter top wood. Checked the plumbing one more time for leaks and everything is ok. So put the plywood on today officially and some backerboard. Ran out of backerboard so need to get to the store tomorrow for two more pieces. Not sure of I can get the tile on before going to N.Y. next weekend but If I can, I will.

Day 32 - More paint

Day 32 - More paintMore paint today and that's pretty much it. Some touchup on the outside of some cabinets but it's pretty much done. Still on schedule for tile this Saturday or Sunday. The other photo is the pile of junk in the backyard. Going to strart to get rid of it throwing it in the pickup truck and bringing it to the garbage pickup area in town

Days 30,31 - PAINT!!

Finally got the correct paint gun to work with my compressor. Painted the cabinets in 2 hours. Going to need at least two more coats of what I call "chocolate milk" paint. <grin> Went really fast...if this is the case then I could be tiling the countertop by this coming Sunday Yippee!
