Day 47 - Sink WORKS!! Dishwasher WORKS!!
Installed the sink permanently today along with new disposer and piping. The faucet was fairly brand new so that was re-installed. Dishwasher was hooked up and so far just a minor leek to the main drain of the house. Will look at it tomorrow. No leaks in the basement too. Whew! I was worried a little and will be checking everything three times a day for a while (plumbing) till I'm satisfied that it all works. Here are some photos of the new socket wall plates. I'm about 75 percent done. The doors and drawers will take a while to make and I'll be starting on them this coming week. Remember all wood work is from scratch with the exception of some molding. Picture of new 7 inch wide window sill is below too.

Day 45,46 - Grout,molding
Good full day of work today on the kitchen because I worked the last two Fridays and went to NY on the third Friday. Will get a lot done this weekend. Today was grout day and molding around the counter top. A lot of little things this weekend that make the whole project come together. Will install the new sink and hook up the dishwasher tomorrow or Sunday.

Day 44 - Working with Oak wood
Today was a day for making the trim for the edge of the countertop and a new window sill. You ask, why a new window sill? We wanted to make it wider so that we can put grow plants near the window. Herbs and maybe flowers. The window sill is 7 inches wide and I think a regular one is 5 inches or something. Anyway, it looks great. Time to stain the wood to match the wood floors that will be going in. After three cans of stain trying to match it, I finally found a color that is perfect. My saw blades went dull from cutting Oak wood. The stuff is real hard on saws. <grin> Never really worked with the stuff.

Day 43 - Last bit fo tile & faucet
Tested the pot faucet today and so far no leaks. Yippie!! No leaks in the basement or anywhere else. We'll see after it is officially being used. Also decided to put tile around the window in the kitchen too. Looks great. Next is trim around the countertop. Stain and cut all the trim as well as make a new wider custom window sill.

Day 41,42 - Tile is done
Took the whole weekend to finish the tile (while working the regular job too) and it looks great. Better than I expected. Things are coming together fast now. Still don't think I'll be done till the end of March. About 4 weeks longer than I expected and probably will be about a 3 month project. A lot of work! These are the current photos and a closeup of the tile. The grout will go in soon in about another day or so. Want to make sure the tile mastic/glue is totally dry. Used a wet tile saw this time than in the past and it made things go a lot faster and easier. That's why it only took a weekend. Next will be grout and then the sink and dishwasher hookup. We'll have a kitchen back to use then by this coming weekend.
