Day 2 - Removal of pantry closet
Removal of the pantry closet was a little more involved than planned. The thing was built like a fortress. 2x4's for framing and drywall on both side of the 2x4's. Built like a room. The ceiling inside the the pantry had to be ripped out and the loose insulation fell all over the place. I didn't think there was much in there. Cold air started pooring into the room so I removed the plaster and more 2x4's from the ceiling and buttoned it up with plastic and tape.

Uno started checking out the closet gone. He used to open the door to
get the treats that were stored in the closet.

The mess that is left the throw out. May recycle some of this.

Day 1 - Rip off the tile backsplash
Doing some of the work after work (I get home at 1pm) I started getting the backsplash tile off. At first I thought it would rip off the drywall but it didn't since it was so old (27 years). The mortor was so dried out. Had the whole thing done in an hour. Also removed the cabinet above the stove as to make room for the microwave above the stove. Since we are removing the soffits above the cabinets, the pipe you see will have to be put in the wall. Something that was not planned but should work out.
